A large contingent of researchers from the Wal-yan Respiratory Research Centre are heading to Spain in September to participate in the European Respiratory Society (ERS) International Congress – the largest respiratory meeting in the world.

Research

Children spend almost one-third of their waking hours at school. Streptococcus pyogenes (Strep A) is a common childhood bacterial infection that can progress to causing serious disease. We aimed to detect Strep A in classrooms by using environmental settle plates and swabbing of high-touch surfaces in two remote schools in the Kimberley, Western Australia.

Wiping out childhood ear infections could become a reality thanks to new research identifying the main bacteria responsible for recurrent ear infections and repeat ear surgeries.
