Project description
We provide enhanced, national-level risk stratification and operational support to accelerate burden reduction and progress to elimination for malaria endemic countries. We produce spatial maps to help countries fulfil a tailored approach to reducing malaria by identifying high risk areas. We achieve these by the assembly and curation of national data on malaria outcomes and covariate/ancillary data, ongoing capacity for model development to adapt to national needs and emergence of new data, and, country-by-country implementation of bespoke frameworks for risk modelling and stratification.
Essentially, bespoke models are developed, maintained and implemented for each country to reflect the particular epidemiology, data, and operational requirements of each setting and program.
Project outputs
Our work has been translated into policies including most recently in Angola where our maps were used to help identify very high risk districts for deployment of indoor residual sprays and insecticide treated bed nets campaigns and, prioritizing placements of community health workers.
