International Volunteer Day: The Kids Research Institute Australia’s Executive Director says thank you

It’s International Volunteer Day, otherwise known as Thank a Volunteer Day here in WA and we are shining a light on the important role our volunteers play.

We are all about improving health outcomes for our kids and part of this is ensuring the valuable work of our researchers is continued in the future.

We want to inspire the next generation of scientists and we have an entire program devoted to this. Our Discovery Centre outreach and education program relies on volunteers to help run excursions, incursions, school holiday workshops and regional STEM festivals, which expose more than 5000 children to the wonders of science every year.

More than 100 volunteers help out with our Discovery Centre outreach and education program. We couldn’t do it without them.

This year’s theme for International Volunteer Day is ‘If Everyone Did’. If everyone volunteered, the world would be a better place.

Learn more by watching the video above from our Executive Director Professor Jonathan Carapetis.

To our volunteers – thank you.
