A The Kids Research Institute Australia researcher has been awarded $10,000 in State Government research support funding.
Dr James Fitzpatrick was one of eight to receive the New Independent Researcher Infrastructure Support (NIRIS) award.
Dr Fitzpatrick said this award will help him meet the infrastructure costs of his translational research into fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.
"Research funding only covers about 70 per cent of the cost of doing research," Dr Fitzpatrick said. "So infrastructure support like this is vital for me to continue my work."
"This funding will help improve FASD prevention, diagnosis and treatment in Australia, providing a better future for thousands of children."
