Dr Sian Williams a Senior Lecturer at the School of Allied Health, Curtin University and Senior Research Fellow with the Liggins Institute, University of Auckland. Sian joined the Kids Rehab WA team as an Honorary Research Associate in 2023.

Sian is an accredited Clinical Exercise Physiologist (Exercise and Sports Science Australia) with over 10 years’ research experience in the field of cerebral palsy and paediatric rehabilitation that has culminated in >40 publications and >70 conference presentations, and has received research funding from a variety of sources including the Research Foundation of Cerebral Palsy Alliance, NHMRC, Starship Foundation, Auckland Medical Research Foundation and New Zealand Health Research Council.  

With a background in clinical biomechanics (three-dimensional gait/movement analysis), Sian’s research extends to the measurement of muscle morphology and strength, evaluation of functional outcomes (i.e. in relation to rehabilitation, spasticity management, and orthopaedic interventions), participation in physical activity. More recently, through the Australasian Cerebral Palsy Clinical Trials Network - CRE, and an Aotearoa Fellowship in New Zealand, Sian’s work has also focused in the area of early detection and intervention of cerebral palsy, and has completed advanced training in the General Movements Assessment.

Sian is available to supervise honours, Masters and PhD students.
