The Opportunity
To be involved with clinical trials that are a part of the Childhood Allergy and Immunology Research (CAIR) Group, run out of the Joondalup Health Campus and Perth Children's Hospital. This position is a vital part of the research team and will contribute to the day to day running of study activities, including administrative duties and conducting research participant clinical assessment appointments and telephone calls.
The Role
Conducting Infant Participant Assessments, including:
- Performing clinical research activities, including skin prick testing, Trans epidermal water loss (TEWL) measurements, vital signs measurements, venepuncture and collection of other biological samples as required.
- Data collection, including administering study specific questionnaires.
- Follow up of research participants - providing study information, appointment bookings, organising medical referral follow-up as required and conducting compliance and assessment phone calls.
- Liaising with medical staff as required.
This is a fixed term position for 12 months with the flexibility of being Part Time.
Your Experience
The successful candidate will have the following skills/qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary research team environment.
- Possesses a high level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform self –management with high personal motivation.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake participant/parent teaching.
- Demonstrated an understanding of the continuous Quality Improvement Process and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training.
- Previous experience in specific clinical research tasks such as recruitment and consenting participants.
- Clinical and specific research skills- venepuncture from infants to adults and allergy assessments techniques including conducting SCORAD and TEWL measurements
- Experience working with infants and children.
- Good computer skills using Microsoft Office, data management programs and electronic communications as required.
The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check and a Working with Children’s Check prior to commencement.
